This tie choker was named after Patsy Matsu Takemoto Mink, a trailblazing American politician and civil rights activist known for her groundbreaking accomplishments. As the first woman of color elected to the U.S. Congress and the first Asian American woman to seek the presidential nomination of a major party, Mink shattered glass ceilings and paved the way for future generations of women in politics. She was a fierce advocate for gender equality and educational reform, co-authoring the Title IX Amendment of the Higher Education Act, which prohibits sex discrimination in education programs receiving federal funding. Patsy Matsu's legacy continues to inspire and empower individuals to strive for justice, equality, and representation in all facets of society.
